A History of Success...
And the tradition continues!
In 1985, The Moody Brothers received a Grammy Award nomination
for their version of Cotton Eyed Joe in the Best Country Instrumental
Performance category. Other nominees were Chet Atkins, Ricky
Skaggs, Doc Watson, and the Whites. Then in 1990,
The Moody Brothers were once again nominated for an instrumental
on Lamon, this time for a collection of train songs know as The
Great Train Song Medley. Other nominees that year were Asleep
At The Wheel, Johnny Gimble, Leo Kottke, Mason
Williams & Mannheim Steamroller.

In 1988, Lamon Records and the communist "state-owned"
Czech label Supraphon broke down some of the walls that had divided
east and west by co-releasing an album with The Moody Brothers and
Jiri Brabec & Country Beat. The album sold over 200,000
units and earned the project a Gold Record Award and a Golden Reel
Award from Ampex Corporation. Billboard called this album "a
first." Even legendary songwriter and folk entertainer John
Hartford got in on the project by playing banjo on his classic
tune "Gentle On My Mind."
In the early 90s, Lamon released "American Country Gothic,"
a CD that was co-produced by Chet Atkins, Dave Moody
and Carlton Moody. Featuring Grand Ole Opry Star
George Hamilton IV, this album received great international
reviews and was licensed in the UK by Conifer Records.
In 1994, Doc Watson, John D. Loudermilk, Arthur
"Guitar Boogie" Smith, Bobby Hicks, REM producer
Don Dixon, Marty Jones and others joined the Moodys
for the recording of their Guitar Boogie album. This CD is still
one of the most popular releases the company has produced, with
export sales to Europe and Japan lending much to its success.
In 1999, Lamon licensed a four CD set of tracks to Virgin/Sound
& Media in the UK. This collection of Line Dance music sold
over 100,000 copies earning The Moody Brothers (Lamon Records) a
Gold Record Award.
In 2002, Dave Moody released a tribute to guitar legend
Chet Atkins and received a Dove Award nomination for his version
of "Will The Circle Be Unbroken" from the 5000 members
of the Gospel Music Association
In 2003, Dave Moody was honored once again with Dove Award
Nomination for Best Country Recorded Song Of The Year for his version
of "God Is Good All The Time" and his song "For Everyman"
reached Number 1 on the European NCM Chart. 2003 also saw the release
of Burrito Deluxe's "Georgia Peach" CD which reached
number 27 on Radio and Records (R&R) Americana Chart! The album
features Flying Burrito Brothers founding member Sneaky Pete,
along with The Band's Garth Hudson. Gillian Welch
and Dave Rawlings from the "O Brother Where Art Thou"
soundtrack, Barry Bales of the Soggy Bottom Boys and
Alison Krauss/Union Station make guest appearances, along
with many others. Other happens in 2003, The Hayes Family's
"Meet Me There" and "I Know He Cares" both reached
the Top 30 on the Southern Gospel Charts. Chris Berardo and The
DesBerardos' album Pure Faith burned up Americana and College
radio, going Top 10 in numerous markets and landing on several indie
music National Charts.
In 2004, George Hamilton IV, with the musical
support of The Moody Brothers earned a total
of seven Dove Award nominations for their acoustic gospel album
"On A Blue Ridge Sunday" and the single "Love Is
Free." (George Hamilton IV (Artist), Dave
Moody (Producer/Songwriter), Carlton Moody
(Songwriter) and Steve Hicks (Songwriter) were
all honored by members of the GMA.) Several Lamon artists made
it to Number 1 on the European NCM chart, including The
Messengers, Steve Zuwala, George
Hamilton IV, and Mindy Schweiger). Lamon
artists Young Harmony and Corey Brooks
were nominated for Christian Country Music Awards, televised nationally
on GMT. The second album release from Burrito Deluxe
(featuring lead singer Carlton Moody) entitled
"The Whole Enchilada" spent weeks on the R&R Americana
Chart. Young Harmony, Beene Family and
the Hayes Family all had Top 40 Singing News
Chart singles.
In 2005, Dave Moody and company won a Dove Award for PraiseStreet Worship Band's Te Amo Dios as the Spanish Language Album of the Year. Other 2005 Dove Award nominations: Young Harmony (Artist) and Dave Moody (Producer) were nominated for Southern Gospel Album of the Year (Faith, Hope, Joy) and George Hamilton IV and The Moody Brothers were nominated for Little Mountain Church House as Best Bluegrass Recorded Song of the Year. Corey Brooks won the Youth In Music Award from the ICMA. Singing News chart success by Young Harmony, Sounds of Victory, the Bradleys, and other chart records by Corey Brooks, Lynn McCarn, One Reason, Dave Moody, Chris Berardo, Margo Smith, George Hamilton IV, Harvest Wind and others.
In 2006, bilingual artist Leonardo won a Dove Award in the Spanish Language Album of the Year category. Other 2006 Dove nominees included Dave Moody, Young Harmony, Corey Brooks, and The Bradleys. More chart record action by a number of our artists in various genres. We released "Changed" by legendary singer/songwriter/actor Ed Bruce (writer of the famous country classic "Mama's Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys") and "Dreams" by Bluegrass Music's Female Vocalist Nominee Honi Deaton and Dream.
2007 brought an unprescedented eight Dove Award nominations for
our artists, producers, and songwriters, including a "Song
of the Year" nomination for Moody Music Group published song
"God's Still God." Dave Moody, with
six Dove nominations joined Chris Tomlin and Jars of Clay as one
of the most nominated artist/producer/songwriters of the night.
Chris Berardo found himself among Americana music's
leading artist as his album spent numerous months in the Top 5
on XM Radio and #34 CD of the Year on XCountry (XM Radio). We
released legendary bluegrass artist Jesse McReynolds
album "Dixie Road." Singing News chart action by The
Imperials, PromisedLand Quartet, Bekki
Smith and others rounded out another fabulous year.
